Every Amarillo neighborhood plus Canyon, Bushland and the small towns around the city. Find your area for local rules and tips.

Fence Rules Change at the City Line

Amarillo spans Potter and Randall counties, but inside city limits the City of Amarillo's zoning applies on both sides of the county line: up to 8 ft behind the front-yard line, 4 ft in the front yard, and permits for pool barriers. Step outside the city and things change. Canyon has its own permits and inspections office. Bishop Hills is its own town, and Timbercreek Canyon and Lake Tanglewood are their own villages, each with deed restrictions. Bushland is unincorporated Potter County, where subdivision restrictions matter more than any permit.

The lots change as much as the rules. Older central neighborhoods like Wolflin and San Jacinto have alleys, mature trees and narrow side yards. Newer Randall County subdivisions have open ground and builder fences. Out toward Bushland and the canyon, it's acreage, pipe fence and long gates.

Each area page below covers who sets the rules, what the lots are like and which fences work best there. Don't see your neighborhood? We likely still serve it. Call (806) 484-1283 and ask.
